May 17th: Back to Cebu, time to re-bar!

We were up bright and early again this morning to catch the hotel shuttle to the port to get back to Cebu. After a nice breakfast at the hotel, we all packed up and hopped on board the ferry after a super fun weekend away from the city.

A quick stop back home (the Mayflower) to pick up our clean laundry and change for work, a quick lunch at Rise Above, and then straight back to the worksite!

The builder visited the site over the weekend, so now we know lots more about the next few steps of the building and are moving right along! The re-bar has arrived, so we spent a lot of the day sawing, shaping, and making grids from the long rebar poles on site. For those who were in Sri Lanka last year, this was nothing new, and the rest of us caught on quite quickly! Definitely a nice change from digging (not that there wasn't a lot of digging today too - but we finally finished our last hole this afternoon!)

Back home for a relaxing evening. It seems as though we've been so so busy on this trip, so it was nice to chill out for a night! We ordered pizza to the hotel, and some of us continued planning for the few days we have here after our project is over. There seems to be an incredible amount of things to see and do in the Philippines, and those of us who will be staying are excited about the next stage of our trip!

Back to work tomorrow- lots of work on the re-bar framing to go!
